DUAL-BAND LPDA ANTENNA LPDA-A-DB

Dual-band filtering is a unique, advanced design that only allows the desired signals within the selected filter to pass. This capability provides a wider operating frequency range and protects the receivers from interfering signals and unwanted RF noise, thus maintaining robust RF reception.

This Dual-Band LPDA active antenna is custom-designed for the UK and Japanese frequency ranges, covering the lower and upper UHF bands.

KEY FEATURES:

  • Active Dual-Band LPDA with 20dB gain
  • UK Dual-Band: 470-700MHz and 960-1164MHz
  • Japanese Dual-Bands: 470-714MHz/806-810MHz and 470-714MHz/1240-1260MHz
  • Selectable 3-Mode operation
  • May be used as an Active, Passive Receive or Transmit
  • No DC- Passive Mode with ultra-wide band 470-1260MHz
  • Extremely high dynamic range RF amplifiers
  • Input high-selective Band Pass filtering
  • User-adjustable Booster Gain in 1dB steps
  • Intuitive OLED display menu
  • Powered through coax cable
  • Integrated mount adaptor
  • CNC-machined custom design

The Dual-Band Active Log Periodic Dipole Array (LPDA-A-DB) antenna is designed to operate within the frequency range of 470-1260 MHz. It consists of two sections: the passive LPDA-P antenna and an active dual-band band-pass filter antenna booster. The user can select front-end filtering, which determines the operating frequency range of the LPDA-A-DB.

The Dual-Band - LPDA-A-DB may be used in Active or Passive Mode to suit individual applications:

Active Mode (when powered through the coax cable)

MODE 1: User selectable Lower UHF Band ONLY

MODE 2: User selectable Upper UHF Band ONLY

MODE 3: Both “Band-Pass Filters” are ON (active) at the same time (excellent “Band Rejection” between Lower and Upper Bands)

Passive Mode (when there is no DC present) can be used as a High Gain Passive

antenna to receive or to transmit with passive 5dB Gain

This unique design features an exceptionally low loss and highly selective front-end band-pass filters. These filters have fixed bandwidths between 470-700 MHz and 960-1164 MHz, specifically for the UK DME Band. The RF amplifiers provide a high dynamic range, very low noise, and linear gain throughout the tuning range.

The LPDA-A-DB offers flexibility and enhanced front-end protection against interfering RF signals. It features a user-adjustable gain of 20 dB to compensate for losses in long antenna extension cables, allowing for increased distances between the transmitter and receiver. The LPDA-A-DB is suitable for applications in filmmaking, documentaries, and permanent installations such as studios and theatres. It is compatible with any UHF wireless receiving system—be it digital, digital hybrid, or analogue—and it provides a directional coverage pattern.

The antennae are constructed using an advanced multi-layer PCB design technique and are made from copper-clad epoxy fibreglass, ensuring they can withstand heavy-duty use in harsh environments. This design provides long-lasting operation and consistent performance even under challenging conditions.
The booster box features a custom-machined aluminium design, with a black anodised finish and a water-resistant O-ring seal for mounting. It includes integrated threading that allows for easy mounting directly onto a tripod. Alternatively, with the supplied adapter, it can be mounted directly onto a microphone stand.
Power is supplied through a coaxial cable, voltage range 10 to 18 Vdc.
